Gapuwiyak
Culture and Arts
Situated in the remote East Arnhem Land community of Gapuwiyak (also known as Lake Evella), Gapuwiyak Culture and Arts is a not-for-profit organisation, enhancing the wellbeing of Yolngu people living in the region.
Supported by the Australian Government’s Visual Crafts and Arts Strategy, Gapuwiyak Culture and Arts shares authentic Yolŋu art and cultural practices whilst providing opportunities for leadership, meaningful employment and professional development.
The branding for Gapuwiyak Culture & Arts is vibrant and contemporary, while deeply grounded in the aesthetics and spirit of traditional Yolŋu craft. The bold circular motif, with its hand-drawn texture, reflects the intricacy and rhythm of weaving and mark-making practices passed through generations. A striking palette of earthy orange and vivid purple balances warmth and vitality with cultural richness, ensuring the identity feels both modern and authentic.
